Literacy

Literacy incorporates the skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening.

At St Joseph’s, achieving high standards in Literacy is a priority. Teachers understand their individual students’ Literacy learning needs and instruction is individualised to maximise learning.

A contemporary and consistent Curriculum is taught from Foundation to Year 6, so that all teachers

share the same understanding and are knowledgeable about what they teach.

There are high expectations of students’ learning at St Joseph’s. We provide flexible groupings across the school allowing students to work at their own level. Students needing extra support or extension are supported by their teacher, support staff members and intervention programs throughout the school. This allows for differentiation of all students’ needs.
